Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara Join Beyond Meat to Give Out One Million Vegan Burgers to Communities in Need

The vegan couple is helping to provide food to three organizations in Los Angeles working to fight youth hunger and homelessness.

This week, vegan actors and activists Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara joined Feed A Million+, a campaign organized by vegan brand Beyond Meat to donate more than one million meals to food insecure Americans amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “We’re so grateful to partner with Beyond Meat’s Feed a Million+ campaign to support individuals and communities experiencing food insecurity,” Phoenix said alongside fiancé Mara in a video announcing their support. “For the next several weeks, the Feed A Million+ campaign will be donating hundreds of hot meals to some of our favorite organizations that provide emergency services to so many people,” Mara said before thanking essential workers. 

The couple chose three organizations in Los Angeles to support through the initiative: Midnight Mission (which works to provide a path forward for individuals experiencing homelessness); The Urban School Food Alliance (which helps school children receive meals); and My Friend’s Place (which helps homeless youth attain self-sufficiency).  

Phoenix and Mara join a large group of celebrities who have supported Beyond Meat’s Feed A Million+ initiative since its launch in early April, including comedian Kevin Hart, rapper Snoop Dogg, and NBA star Kyrie Irving.
