When Jon Stewart announced in February that he’d be leaving the The Daily Show after a 16-year run as its host, fans were crestfallen. But animal lovers everywhere now have reason to celebrate with the announcement that the comedian-newsman has purchased land in his home state of New Jersey to start a sanctuary for farm animals rescued from abuse. In March, Stewart had Farm Sanctuary co-founder Gene Baur on as his guest to discuss his new book, Living the Farm Sanctuary Life. To honor Stewart and his wife Tracey’s commitment to animals, Farm Sanctuary recently named two rescued sheep after the compassionate couple.
