Actor Mark Wahlberg recently transitioned to a plant-based diet to improve his health. The 48-year-old revealed his dietary shift during an episode of Men’s Health “Vs. The Internet,” a segment that tasks celebrities to respond to comments about them sourced from the internet. Wahlberg explained that during the filming of his new movie Spenser Confidential, the actor ate up to eight meals per day, mostly consisting of chicken, pork, fish, and steak—meals that led him to develop a “leaky gut,” a digestive condition that can cause diarrhea, nutritional deficiencies, skin conditions, and joint pain. “I did a bone broth fast and I’ve been eating just plant-based for about three weeks now, and I gotta tell you—I feel really good,” Wahlberg said. “What you put in your body is going to dictate how you ultimately feel.” In 2018, Wahlburgers—a burger chain owned by Wahlberg and his brothers, Donnie and Paul—was one of the first restaurant chains to add the plant-based Impossible Burger to its menu nationwide.
