McCartney Wins Green Award

Fashion-designer-extraordinaire Stella McCartney knows how to make a statement­—to the entire world. The uncompromising vegetarian was honored at the Accessories Council Excellence Awards as the very first Green Designer of the Year for her stellar faux-leather and eco-based designs. “I do want to show that accessories can be made from a more ethical viewpoint—and be sexy and cool,” McCartney told Women’s Wear Daily. “The myth of leather—that every bag and shoe needs to be made from it—needs to be broken down. It’s a bit caveman.”
