McDonald’s recently added the McAloo Tikki burger to the global menu at its 6,000-square foot headquarters located in Chicago. “Customers have expressed interest in items from McDonald’s restaurants located in India, and we’re excited to offer them the opportunity to try the longtime vegetarian favorite, McAloo Tikki,” McDonald’s Owner and Operator Nick Karavites said. The vegan burger patty is made with potatoes, peas, and “seasoning reminiscent of samosas,” and comes topped with red onions, tomato slices, and an eggless tomato mayo—and can be ordered fully vegan without the mayo as it contains cream. McDonald’s updates its global menu with items that perform well in other countries and recently debuted several vegan items outside of the United States. After a successful test run at one location in Finland, McDonald’s added the McVegan burger last year to the menu of all of its Nordic locations. Until December 27, McDonald’s Finland is also offering the El Veggo—a vegan version of its meat-based El Maco burger.
