Denton, TX-based vegan cheese company Mindful Mortal Cheese recently launched skull-shaped blocks of cashew cheese. The 4- to 5-ounce cheese skulls are available in cheddar or mozzarella flavors for $8 each or two for $15. The cheese can be shredded, sliced, or cubed. Currently, they can be delivered to your home within Denton, or picked up if you live outside Denton.

Owners Emily Sanchez and Aspen Carter created Mindful Mortal Cheese after perfecting their cheese-making skills at home. “We realized making our own vegan alternatives was more cost-effective,” Sanchez told VegNews. “We began experimenting and perfecting the way we make our cheese skulls until we believed it was good enough to share with our community. We aim to offer a vegan cheese option that is locally made and fun to eat. We chose the spooky shapes because the macabre has always fascinated us.”

Sanchez and Carter are currently testing new allergen-friendly vegan cheese options and are working with the North Texas Small Business Development Center for business guidance and growth. “This is our first small business and we are excited for all the possibilities,” Sanchez said.
