Popular New York City-based Mediterranean restaurant Cafe Petisco recently transformed into a new all-vegan eatery called Petisco Vegano. The restaurant, which previously served lamb chops, skirt steak, and chicken skewers, now offers an all-vegan menu featuring items such as Coconut Fried Tofu, mac and cheese, Enchilada Casserole, and a Beyond Burger topped with caramelized onions, vegan cheese, lettuce, tomato, and vegan mayo. Petisco Vegano also offers a full breakfast and brunch menu featuring Breakfast Burritos, Moroccan Chickpea Flour Omelettes, Apple Almond Oat Pancakes, and Tofu Egg Florentine. Earlier this year, the café closed and posted a sign suggesting that a collapsed wall in the basement forced the closure. “Our 100-percent plant-based cuisine aspires to bring fresh Mediterranean and familiar flavors to all of our lovingly-prepared dishes,” Petisco Vegano writes on its menu, which encourages customers to “dine with compassion.”
