Vegan chef/entrepreneur Matthew Kenney recently announced plans to expand his Double Zero pizzeria to several new locations. The chef opened the flagship location of Double Zero (then called 00 + Co.) in New York City’s East Village neighborhood in 2016 where he serves elevated pizzas and flatbreads that feature nut-based cheeses. Kenney—who operates a number of plant-based restaurants, including Plant Food + Wine, around the world—will open the first Double Zero location outside of New York in Los Angeles in August, with plans to expand the chain to Brooklyn (September 2018), Boston (October 2018), and Philadelphia (January 2019). In addition to vegan delicatessen New Deli that Kenney opened in Los Angeles in April, the chef debuted Japanese-inspired restaurant Arata in May located between two of his NYC restaurants: the Double Zero flagship location and Bar Verde. In July, Kenney plans to open Kanu—his 15th restaurant—in Canada.
