Poll: Americans Oppose Cosmetics Testing on Animals

The sale of cosmetics that are tested on animals has been banned by the European Union. Is the United States next?

Cosmetic testing has already faced opposition abroad—both Israel and the European Union recently banned the sale of any makeup products that are newly tested on animals—and a majority of Americans agree, according to new research. According to a recent poll by Lake Research Partners, 72 percent of women surveyed “largely oppose” cosmetic animal testing and 70 percent think it should be illegal, and roughly 75 percent of voters noted that they would feel safer or as safe if their make-up was tested through methods that do not include animals.
