Starting April 1, Red Robin will serve the Impossible Burger at all of its 570 locations nationwide—representing the largest restaurant partnership for the plant-based company to date. The plant-based patty will be featured on the menu as a standard Impossible Cheeseburger (which can be ordered vegan without mayonnaise, cheese, and on a lettuce wrap) and can be substituted in place of meat for any other burger on Red Robin’s menu. While the chain has previously offered Boca burgers and housemade vegan patties, Red Robin added the Impossible Burger in a bid to attract new customers looking for innovative meat-free options. “Our fans expect variety, creativity and culinary innovation at Red Robin, so it was important for us to offer a plant-based option that appeals to traditional burger lovers, flexitarians, and everyone craving a delicious burger,” Jonathan Muhtar, executive vice president and chief concept officer at Red Robin, said. “The Impossible Cheeseburger is a high-quality offering our guests will love and marks a huge milestone for Red Robin.” Last year, White Castle added the Impossible Slider to 377 locations after a successful trial run revealed that some outposts sold more than 300 plant-based burgers daily. In 2017, Red Robin’s competing chain TGI Friday’s added the plant-based patty Beyond Burger (the Impossible Burger’s direct competitor) to 465 of its locations nationwide.
