This month, Pennsylvania-based convenience-store chain Rutter’s will add two new plant-based options to its more than 70 locations: mung bean-based JUST Egg and Perfect Burger, a vegan burger patty made by food brand Dr. Praeger’s. The new options will be featured in Rutter’s’ hot grab-and-go section. “With the flexitarian consumer growing at a rapid rate, Rutter’s believes it’s the perfect time to release a plant-based portfolio. Providing our customers with the highest quality, healthier alternative options, while satisfying the ever-growing demand for plant-based proteins, is key to our food service strategy,” Ryan Krebs, Director of Food Service at Rutter’s, said. Guests can also order JUST Egg and Perfect Burger through a touchscreen kiosk that features options such as breakfast sandwiches, quesadillas and burritos, breakfast bowls and baskets, pizzas, and build-your-own burgers. “We’re thrilled that Rutter’s is the first convenience store chain in the country to put the award-winning JUST Egg on the menu, continuing their reputation as a leader in foodservice innovation,” Josh Tetrick, co-founder and CEO of JUST, said. “By offering delicious, healthier, and more sustainable products like JUST Egg, Rutter’s is helping redefine the convenience store experience for a new generation of customers. The team at JUST is proud to partner with them on this pairing—one that is better for our bodies and better for our planet.” After selling the vegan equivalent of 10 million chicken eggs in the retail sector, last month, JUST partnered with restaurant chain Le Pain Quotidien which replaced its animal-derived eggs with JUST’s vegan alternative at all of its locations in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC.
