Actress Sandra Bullock donated $100,000 this week to The Humane Society of Ventura County (HSVC) to support its efforts in caring for animals evacuated due to the Hill and Woolsey fires burning in Southern California. “Sandra Bullock and her family have reached out to other non-profit organizations both during this incident and in the past,” HSVC wrote on its Facebook page. “However, this time she wanted to contribute to those on the frontline rescuing animals in peril and hope others will choose to do the same.” HSVC will use the funds to provide aid to animals such as horses, bulls, ducks, tortoises, chickens, pigs, and donkeys who have been affected by the devastating fires. Vegan celebrities Miley Cyrus and fiance Liam Hemsworth lost their Malibu home as a result of the Woolsey Fire, but evacuated all of their companion animals, including rescue pig Pig (formerly Bubba Sue). The couple is encouraging fans via social media to donate to organizations working to help human and non-human victims of the wildfires.
