This week, Sunny Slices opened as the first all-vegan pizza shop in Singapore. Spearheaded by local chefs Addis Tan and Dylan Choong and technology-driven food and beverage company Ebb & Flow Group, the shop evolved from pop up Hllo.bb, which was started by a group of friends to create approachable vegan food. “It was clear to us that there was a gap in the market for consumers who enjoy fast food but with plant-based options,” Feline Gondokusomo, Chief Strategy Officer of Ebb & Flow Group, said. “People have a misconception that vegan food has to be plain and healthy but we want to show that it can be fun and delicious.”
To that end, the shop serves a variety of pizzas topped with innovative ingredients, including the Meatless Lovers (which features pieces of vegan pork OmniPork and Impossible Meat, onions, black olives, garlic oil, and fresh basil); Katzoo (topped with vegan chicken katsu, shredded purple cabbage, vegan kewpie mayo, nori, and sesame seeds) and Seafood Laksa (topped with konjac-based shrimp and squid, laksa leaves, and fried shallots). The shop also offers salads and sides, including Impossible Mongolian Meatballs, Corny Guac Fries, and Fire-Roasted Butternut Squash.
“We decided on plant-based pizza because it’s close to our ethos—it’s fun, approachable, convenient, and challenging,” Tan said. “And the best part about Sunny Slices is that after indulging in our pizzas, you will still feel good about yourself.”
Sunny Slices is open for island-wide delivery through its website and major local delivery platforms.
