For this year’s holiday season, Starbucks debuted the vegan-friendly Juniper Latte in participating locations across the United States and Canada. The beverage is made with brewed espresso, herbaceous juniper syrup, and steamed milk (order any of Starbucks’ non-dairy milk options), and is topped with a sprinkle of pine citrus sugar, which is colored with red cabbage, apples, turmeric, pumpkin, and spirulina. “This beverage has a light, pine-like flavor with delightful citrus undertones,” Starbucks described the seasonal drink. On December 1 (World AIDS Day), Starbucks will donate 20 cents from the sale of every Juniper Latte to global organization (RED) to help fight AIDS in Africa. In recent years, the international coffee chain has debuted vegan-friendly seasonal offerings, including last year’s winter beverage Toffee Almondmilk Hot Cocoa.
