Beauty retailer The Body Shop recently launched a vegan-friendly line of banana-inspired products. The special edition line of “banana bodycare treats” features vegan products such as  a hair mask, body butter, body yogurt, and shower cream, along with non-vegan items (shampoo and conditioner) which contain honey. The new line, and the rest of The Body Shop’s collection of body yogurts, is made with almond milk in lieu of animal-derived dairy. The Body Shop advocates for the end of animal-testing in the cosmetic industry, and its decision to eliminate dairy from its newest collection is consistent with consumer trends toward cruelty-free beauty products—the sales of which, according to recent report compiled by research firm The NPD Group, increased by 38 percent during the 12 months between February 2017 and January 2018.
