UK Google Search for “Vegan Easter Egg” Surges
United Kingdom residents show an interest in veganizing Easter-staple Cadbury Creme Eggs.
March 26, 2016
Ahead of Easter weekend, Google searches for the term “vegan” in combination with “Easter egg” have skyrocketed from those in 2015. According to Google Trends data reported by United Kingdom media outlet The Guardian, one in 50 searches for Easter eggs included the word “vegan”—higher than the one in 100 search ratio for the word “dark chocolate” in relation to Easter eggs. Furthermore, The Guardian revealed that “the past year has seen a huge rise in the number of Google search queries for recipes omitting meat, fish, dairy, eggs, and honey.” While Cadbury Creme Eggs are popular UK-based Easter confections—which have many vegan alternatives such as Lagusta’s Luscious’ English Cream Egg—the trend toward vegan searches is a symbol of change.
