Vegan Brand Field Roast Expands to 330 Walmart Stores Across Canada

Seattle-based vegan brand Field Roast Grain Meat Co. recently expanded its products to 330 Walmart locations across Canada. The major retailer now carries Field Roast’s Smoked Apple Sage, Italian, and Mexican Chipotle Sausages, Fieldburgers, and Chao cheese slices in Original, Tomato Cayenne, and Garden Herb flavors. In 2017, Field Roast was acquired for $120 million by Canadian meat company Maple Leaf Foods. Soon after, Field Roast CEO David Lee released a “Vegan Policy Affirmation” that sets guidelines for the acquisition—which included keeping all Field Roast products vegan and maintaining animal-free policies at the company’s processing facilities and offices—in an effort to mitigate the concerns of its longtime vegan customers. Field Roast’s products will share shelf space with vegan cheese brand Nafsika’s Garden, which launched its coconut oil-based slices in three flavors (smoked gouda-style, cheddar-style, and Swiss-style) in Walmart Canada this April.
