This week, South Africa-based vegan brand Fry Family Foods donated 5,000 plant-based burgers to Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County which will distribute the donation to people who are struggling with hunger and homeless in Southern California. “When we saw that 112,000 children in Orange County may go hungry every month and that 22 percent of seniors are also at risk of going hungry, we knew we had to do something,” Tammy Fry, International Marketing Director at Fry Family Foods, said. “Through their Kids Café, School Pantry, and Senior Grocery programs, Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County is committed to providing meals to those in need in the Southland and we’re honored to be a part of that effort.” Founded in 1991 by husband-and-wife team Wally and Debbie Fry, the family-owned brand is currently available in 8,000 retailers in more than 30 countries and made its anticipated debut in the United States by way of Lazy Acres Market in Southern California which now stocks 10 of the brand’s most popular products, including Traditional Burgers, Rice Protein & Chia Nuggets, Tempura Battered Prawn-style Pieces, and Golden Crumbed Schnitzels.
