South Africa-based vegan brand Fry Family Food Company (also known as “Fry’s”) will launch this fall in the United States. Founded in 1991 by husband-and-wife team Wally and Debbie Fry, the family-owned brand is currently available in 8,000 retailers in 30 countries. “Reflecting rapid demand growth in the United States and sustained interest from international markets, we’ve taken steps to significantly increase our production capacity,” Fry’s Exports Director Shaun Richardson said. “These additions make it possible for us to support international launches, building upon our recent 2018 introduction of our products to over 500 Sainsbury stores in the United Kingdom.” Fry’s will initially debut seven of its frozen products, including vegan shrimp, sausage rolls, burgers, falafel balls, and schnitzel. “We are extremely excited to be entering the largest market in the world for plant-based food,” Fry’s International Marketing Director Tammy Fry said. “We want Americans to experience new culinary options and twists on hearty comfort foods—I think vegans and non-vegans alike will find our food delicious, and I want as many people as possible to try them.” Earlier this year, Fry’s vegan burgers became the first plant-based meat alternative to be available in the chilled or frozen section at Costco locations in Australia.
