On May 4, all-vegan burger concept Burger Patch will open its first brick-and-mortar location in Sacramento, CA. The eatery was founded by husband-and-wife team Danea and Phillip Horn, who hosted several successful burger pop-ups in 2017 and opened a permanent food stand inside Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center sports arena in 2018. The grab-and-go eatery will offer a simple comfort-food menu that focuses on burgers made with Beyond Meat products, French fries, and milkshakes, such as the classic Patch Burger, a Beyond patty topped with melted vegan cheddar, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, and homemade Patch sauce on a toasted artisan bun; the Ranch, a grilled chick’n breast topped with hickory smoked strips, lettuce, tomato, and homemade ranch sauce on a toasted bun; crispy breaded chick’n tenders with dipping sauce; and chocolate and vanilla milkshakes made from cashew, almond, and soy milk. The restaurant will also offer salted chocolate chip cookies, served warm off the grill. “We feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to refine our concept with the help of our fans and amazing chefs through our pop-ups and Golden 1 Center stand to present a final product we’re so proud of,” Phillip Horn told VegNews. “It’s the perfect time for plant-based food with modern ingredients and nostalgic taste to take center stage.” Last week, when the Horns hosted a surprise pop-up at the new location, more than 100 people showed up within 30 minutes to snap up the free meals they offered to the first 50 people. The couple is already planning future locations in the Northern California region and will also be showcasing the concept at the upcoming BottleRock Napa Valley music festival during Memorial Day weekend.
