Oregon-based vegan chain Next Level Burger (NLB) will offer the “Kraut Dawg” today at its six locations. The new menu item—which NLB will sell until it “runs out”—features the bratwurst flavor of Beyond Sausage topped with organic sauerkraut, jalapeños, and mustard served on a gluten-free bun. “Next Level Burger added the Beyond Sausage to our menu because, once again, Beyond Meat has changed the plant-based game by debuting a product that is truly revolutionary,” NLB co-founder Matthew de Gruyter told VegNews. “You don’t even want to know how many of those puppies this guy has put away to date.” Beyond Meat launched the Beyond Sausage at a Colorado Whole Foods Market earlier this year before expanding the offering to Whole Foods Market locations nationwide and select restaurant partners, including California-based vegan chain Veggie Grill. Founded in 2014, NLB is also in the midst of an expansion and opened an outpost last year inside a Whole Foods Market in Seattle before expanding to two Whole Foods 365 in-store locations in Concord, CA and Brooklyn, NY. “NLB was founded upon the notion of being there for the people, all people, to make a healthier, more sustainable, and all-together more conscious choice,” de Gruyter said, before revealing that the Beyond Sausage might become a permanent addition to the menu at NLB depending on customer demand.
