Do you have a food you love so much you could eat it three times a day? For Deatrich Wise Jr., that dish is Chick’n & Waffles at Veggie Galaxy in Boston. “I could eat that for breakfast, lunch, or dinner without thinking twice,” he told VegNews. In fact, there aren’t many items on the menu that the footballer doesn’t love. “After a long week on the field, nothing hits harder than a Galaxy Burger or that Epic Chick’n Parm Sub,” he added.

Wise Jr., who went vegan during his rookie season, loves Veggie Galaxy so much that he bought a 10 percent stake in the restaurant last year. Although he’s now based in Washington, DC with The Washington Commanders, Wise Jr.’s heart (and stomach) remains in Boston. “Veggie Galaxy has been my go-to from day one,” he said.

“You can’t go wrong with their dessert. It’s the first thing you see when you walk in. I always say that this is the kind of meal that makes the whole day feel like a win. It’s the kind of place you can kick back, lose track of time, and just soak in the vibe. No rush. Just good food, good people, and a chill vibe.”

The love goes both ways. In honor of his new position with The Commanders, Veggie Galaxy has launched a brand-new breakfast burrito: the Wise 91, named after the athlete’s jersey. Packed with Just Egg, sautéed peppers, onions, spinach, vegan cheese, and vegan sausage, it debuted just as Wise Jr. returned to play with the Commanders at Boston’s Gillette Stadium.

“We’re beyond excited to welcome Deatrich back to Boston—and even more thrilled to celebrate with the launch of the Wise 91,” Veggie Galaxy co-owner Michael Bissanti said in a statement. “Not only was Deatrich a champion on the field, but he was also a passionate advocate for plant‑based living. We’re excited to share this creation with the community and celebrate Deatrich’s return home.”

The Wise 91 burrito is now a permanent menu addition. “This burrito is packed with energy, flavor, and heart,” said Wise Jr. “Exactly how I like to play the game.”

Dallas, TX

“This is always one of my stops when I touch down in Dallas. Their vegan Creole game is unmatched,” Wise Jr. said. “During COVID, my bubble was basically me, my couch, and their tacos and classic chicken sandwich. Let’s just say we were on a first-name basis—and their menu never let me down.”

New York, NY

“I happened to come upon Eleven Madison Park this summer when their seasonal menu incorporated Japanese-inspired elements and ingredients, and wow—every bite felt like a work of art,” the NFL star shared. “It’s seriously on another level. I left feeling a little full, until I had to loosen the belt a bit. Then it was time for dessert. The next time I’m in New York, this is my first stop, no question. Perfect date night spot, too.”

“Whenever I was down in Miami to play the Dolphins, Planta was my jam—I couldn’t get enough of their Baked Crab, Dragon, Spicy Tuna, and Torched & Press rolls,” Wise Jr. said. “I was seriously disappointed when that spot closed, but I just found out they’ve got three locations in the DC area, where I’m currently playing for the Commanders. That’s like running into an old teammate in a new city. Looks like vegan sushi is back in my schedule.”
