Pop-Tarts are an American favorite—more than 76 million Americans ate Kellogg’s iconic toaster pastry in 2020 alone. While it’s easy to head to the store and grab your go-to flavor (fun fact: the unfrosted varieties—Blueberry, Brown Sugar Cinnamon, and Strawberry—are vegan), you can also make your own from scratch. That’s Taylor Swift’s preferred method, anyway.
The pop icon recently made headlines for baking homemade Pop-Tarts as a gift for her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Before a photoshoot with American Eagle, she reportedly sent him a box of strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry Pop-Tarts, along with a handwritten note: “Have a great shoot,” according to fan account @TayvisHaze on X.
Swift’s love of homemade Pop-Tarts isn’t new. Last year, Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid told NFL on NBC, “She likes to cook, so she made the offensive linemen these homemade Pop-Tarts. She knew right where to go.”

Why Taylor (and you) might prefer homemade Pop-Tarts
We don’t know exactly what Swift puts in her Pop-Tarts, but they’re likely healthier than the store-bought kind, which are often loaded with preservatives, sugar, and artificial flavors. Making your own lets you control the ingredients, dial back the sugar, and experiment with nutritious add-ins like real fruit, nuts, or dark chocolate.
But the biggest reason Swift does it? She seems to simply enjoy it. She’s been known to bake for friends, including actor Channing Tatum, who once told The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, “She’ll make you dinner and whip it up no problem. Like homemade Pop-Tarts. Warm Pop-Tarts. I’m like, ‘Did you just make these? How are these warm?’”
Singer Katy Perry has also praised Swift’s baking skills. “I couldn’t believe [her home-baked cookies] weren’t store-bought,” she told SiriusXM in 2019. “She just makes them on a whim, and she’s such a good baker.”
