Vegan activist artists Laurie Johnston, owner of design company Two Trick Pony, and Ruby Roth, author and illustrator of vegan books for children, collaborated to create a line of 12 eco-friendly greeting cards featuring illustrations of beloved companion animals. The cards, which launched in time for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month (April), promote saving the lives of shelter animals. Each card features an original painting from Roth—who is the author of books such as That’s Why We Don’t Eat Animals, Vegan is Love, and The Help Yourself Cookbook for Kids—and “Adopt, don’t shop” messaging to help promote the adoption of shelter animals. “My art is dedicated to encouraging a new generation to love deeply, think critically, and act responsibly,” Roth said. “And since more people, especially younger ones, are sending greeting cards these days, partnering with Two Trick Pony to spread the word about pet adoption adds extra love and purpose to that exchange.” Five percent of all card sales go to an animal rescue, animal protection, or vegan advocacy non-profit organization.
