Popular Canadian bread bakery COBS Bread has launched vegan Arrabbiata Mini Pizzas. The plant-based pizza squares feature Beyond Meat Italian Sausage Crumbles, roasted red pepper, a spicy Arrabbiata tomato sauce, and Nabati vegan mozzarella cheese on a fermented Turkish dough base. The new menu item is the bakery’s first vegan savory grab-and-go lunch option. It is available at all 130 COBS locations across Canada. 

Vegan pizza for all

“Our inspiration to launch a vegan-suitable pizza comes from our belief that everyone should be able to enjoy a COBS Bread pizza. Our delicious plant-based pizza is the perfect complement to our range of vegan-suitable breads and provides choice for customers who are vegan or are just looking to diversify their meal occasions with plant-based alternatives,” Brad Bissonnette, Vice President of Marketing and Franchise Recruitment at COBS Bread, told VegNews. “We are excited to launch our first plant-based pizza in partnership with Beyond Meat and Nabati, as it allows us to deliver a plant-based pizza option at a quality level expected by our customers.” 

Though the new vegan pizza is a limited-time offer, it could become a permanent menu item if there is enough demand. COBS offers other vegan-friendly items in its bakeries, including the Apricot Delight Loaf, Cape Seed Loaf, Chia White Loaf, Country Grain Loaf, Italian Herb Focaccia, French Baguette, Higher Fiber Loaf, Pizza Bases, Sunflower Flax Sourdough Loaf, Italian Herb Turkish Bread, White Loaf, and Whole Wheat Loaf. The bakery’s Raspberry and Custard Teatime and Blueberry & Custard Teatime sweet doughs are also vegan.
