Los Angeles-based vegan pizza company The Pizza Plant is now making its plant-based Peperone topping available to 400 pizza operators and the hospitality industry in California and Nevada through its new foodservice distributor, Jacmar. The spiced tofu Peperone slices first debuted on The Pizza Plant’s own Peperone pizza, called The 36 Percent (because 36 percent of all pizzas sold in the United States are pepperoni pizzas) and it quickly became the pizzeria’s top-selling pizza.
“These USDA Certified Organic, scratch-made, craveable, plant-based ‘peperone’ toppings give pizza operators the opportunity to take advantage of the trending demand and add a truly flavorful topping to their pizza menu,” The Pizza Plant founder Marvin V. Acuna told VegNews. “Our corporate vision is to enable pizza operators to satisfy the growing demand for plant-based toppings and build a menu that appeals to many more people.”
The Pizza Plant became well known when it launched its monstrous 13-topping CBD-infused vegan Nacho Pizza. In addition to its pizzeria and food truck, The Pizza Plant has expanded its business to include organic, premade, take-and-bake pizza products for the retail industry. Earlier this year, the company launched four take-and-bake vegan pizzas at 11 Whole Foods Market locations in California and is currently expanding to 64 locations across the Southern Pacific Region.
