Vegetarian Restaurant Opens in Detroit Art Museum

Topsoil Café, the newest addition to Motor City’s cruelty-free circuit, opened its doors yesterday at its Museum of Contemporary Art location. Topsoil was started by the owners of the city’s Russell Street Deli, and it will feature Asian-style dishes such as a soba noodle bowl and curry, along with American cuisine classics such as hot dogs and soup, reports the Detroit Free Press. None of the menu items will exceed eight dollars, and MOCAD members will receive a 10 percent discount. Ben Hall, the co-owner of Russell Street Deli and Topsoil says his goal is for this deal to be mutually beneficial for patrons and Detroit diners alike. “We’re hoping that our customers who start coming there on a regular basis will become MOCAD members, and then people who are already MOCAD members will automatically benefit.”
