A heartwarming video from Austria’s Gut Aiderbichl Sanctuary shows a young cow doing an ecstatic “dance” after being rescued from a beef farm. As soon as a sanctuary volunteer unlatches the leash from around Bandit’s neck, releasing him from a tightly confining stall, the young cow starts prancing around the barn and rolling in the hay. Bandit’s joy is evident in his leaps and gambols, as if he’s kicking up his heels in excitement. But his deliverance from slaughter is bittersweet because the other cows in the barn, who stick their faces out of their stalls to get closer to Bandit, will stay on the farm. A member of Gut Aiderbichl Sanctuary raised money to purchase Bandit’s freedom so he can live the rest of his life in a natural setting with hundreds of other rescued cows, cats, dogs, horses, pigs, donkeys, and chimpanzees.
