United Kingdom’s Virgin Trains recently added a vegan, pink-hued hummus and pomegranate wrap to its onboard menu just in time for Valentine’s Day. The train operator partnered with The Vegan Society to create the wrap, ensuring all of its ingredients are free from animal products. Virgin Trains also worked with the vegan organization to introduce a number of vegan options to its menu last December—such as Vegan Chili with Rice, Mini Indian Bites, and Mediterranean Pasta Salad—becoming the first train operator to offer vegan options on all of its menus. The new wrap was launched following the increased demand for more vegan options after the month-long Veganuary campaign. “The response from our customers has been really positive,” Julie Harper, Virgin Trains food and beverage proposition manager, said. “Vegans who want reassurance that they’ll be looked after onboard have welcomed this, but we’ve also had great feedback from non-vegans. We’re delighted to be working with The Vegan Society and hope to be launching more products officially registered by them through[out] the year.”
