On a recent episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, comedian Ricky Gervais entertained host Stephen Colbert’s outlandish request to meet him face-to-face inside a cardboard box in a skit called “Personal Space.” The two comedians uncomfortably talked inside the box, mere inches from each other’s faces, about a variety of topics, including the plant-based Impossible Burger. “Are you getting hungry?” Colbert asked. “What do you mean?” Gervais hesitantly replied. Colbert asked if the comedian was vegetarian and Gervais confirmed that he is. When Colbert asked if he had tried the Impossible Burger, Gervais replied that he had not, prompting Colbert to place the aforementioned plant-based burger into the box and haphazardly attempt to eat it, before throwing it into Gervais’ face to urge him to try it. This week, Burger King added the Impossible Whopper to the menu at its more than 7,200 locations nationwide, making it easier for everyone to try a plant-based burger—while cracking jokes inside a box or not.
