In an announcement this week by So Delicious Dairy Free, the vegan company has been acquired by WhiteWave Foods—makers of the Silk brand of non-dairy milks and yogurts—for $125 million. Producers of popular dairy-free products like almond milk, cashew milk, coconut creamers, soy ice cream, coconut nog, and whipped cream, the Oregon-based So Delicious was founded in 1987 by Mark Brawerman—who was the CEO until 2013. In a statement on the company’s website, “Joining forces with [WhiteWave] will not only create significant opportunities for So Delicious Dairy Free as part of a well-respected organization, but will help us introduce our delicious products to new consumers in new places who share our passion for high-quality, non-GMO, and certified vegan foods and beverages.”
