This week, Los Angeles-based vegan pizza company The Pizza Plant launched a Plant-Based Discovery Box with free no-contact delivery in Los Angeles County. The box includes 24 servings of vegan meals from local businesses. The company’s first box includes two pre-made pizzas from The Pizza Plant, vegetable dumplings from Dina’s Dumpling, four burritos from Hijo De Su Madre, lasagna from Sage Vegan Bistro, and eight boxes of water from Boxed Water. Customers can order the Discovery Box online each week before Wednesday for delivery on Friday or Saturday. The Pizza Plant plans to offer rotating menus from different local vendors with each weekly box.

“Our company values community. In that spirit, it occurred to us that we could serve as a bridge to the plant-based vendor community that we respect—and whose food I personally love—and the Los Angeles community by utilizing our state-of-the-art, refrigerated vehicle to deliver a box full of deliciousness directly to their home,” The Pizza Plant founder Marvin V. Acuna told VegNews. “In short, folks get to enjoy a brand they may already be loyal to and also discover one or more. I believe strongly that LA is likely missing all the plant-based gatherings that occurred each week and, particularly, over the weekends. Now they don’t need to.”

Earlier this month, The Pizza Plant launched a donation program that allows customers to order pizzas online to be delivered to the Union Station Homeless Services (USHS) in Pasadena, CA, feeding children in need during the COVID-19 crisis.
