This year, Coachella fest-goers can order vegan food and alcohol without waiting in line thanks to a new service. Delivery company Postmates partnered with festival organizers AEG Presents to create the “Postmates Pickup” app which will launch at numerous festivals this year, starting with Coachella. The service—accessible once a customer downloads the official Coachella festival app—allows users to choose from a number of participating vendors in-app, wait for a notification when their food is ready, and pick up their orders at two designated stations. Fest-goers can order from vegan shop Monty’s Good Burger (food from which will only be available at the festival through the app) featuring a menu of decadent burgers filled with Impossible Foods’ patties, topped with Follow Your Heart cheese, and served on a potato bun. Those looking to order tacos can select from tacos stuffed with young jackfruit, cauliflower, or asada-style mushrooms from Trejo’s Tacos—a participating vendor owned by Machete actor Danny Trejo. Alcohol can also be reserved through the app and users must present proper identification at pickup stations. While not available for ordering through the app, a number of vegan options will be available through other vendors at Coachella, including vegan egg-topped ramen from Ramen Hood, vegan dumplings from Ms. Chi, and tacos and burritos from Vegatinos.
