This week, Dole Food Company is challenging fans to recreate Disney’s famed vegan soft-serve Dole Whip with its #DIYDoleWhip Contest. From May 29 to June 8, participants are encouraged to post an original photo of their creations based on Dole’s original recipe to Dole’s Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter accounts. Dole judges will then review submissions and choose a winner based on their creativity. The winner will be crowned “Dole’s Ultimate Dole Whip Fan” and receive a Vitamix A2500 Ascent Series Blender valued at more than $600, with an additional three winners receiving Dole prize-packs.

Created in 1986 by Dole Food Company to honor its sponsorship of Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland, the original recipe for Dole Whip includes pineapple, banana, lime juice, coconut milk, and a touch of powdered sugar. “Dole is rooted in the belief that fresh fruits and vegetables are the natural fuel source we all need to maintain wellness. And getting more plants into diets doesn’t have to be at odds with fun and enjoyment,” Bil Goldfield, director of communications for Dole Food Company, told VegNews. “It can be easy, delicious and contribute to a happier, healthier life—so we knew we wanted to make good on that commitment when it came to creating something special for one of the world’s largest and most beloved stages, Disneyland.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney parks have been closed but its chefs have been sharing recipes of Disney’s iconic theme park foods, including Dole Whip and Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie Fries.
