Owners of Philadelphia-based Vedge—pastry chef Kate Jacoby and chef Rich Landau—will expand their vegan empire to Washington DC next fall. The couple plans to open a second location of V Street that will serve a similar street food-inspired menu to the eatery’s flagship location in Philadelphia. “We know the demand for serious vegan food is getting stronger all the time,” Jacoby told the Washington Post. In addition to dishes such as Za’atar Grilled Corn, Korean Fried Tempeh Tacos, and Chilled Kung Pao Noodles, Jacoby plans to offer a wide array of desserts including halvah with sumac sour cherries or cannoli with pistachio, bitter orange and chocolate magic shell, and chocolate-stuffed beignets. In addition to V Street and Vedge—which was named Zagat’s 2014 restaurant of the year in Philadelphia—the couple opened fast casual eatery Wiz Kid last fall.
