International pizza chain Domino’s has added a vegan cheese option to 55 locations in Israel. The chain began offering a “soy topping” in lieu of cheese in 2013 but decided to replace it with vegan cheese Cheezly from United Kingdom-based brand VBites Foods after poor customer response. The chain conducted a focus group to determine which vegan cheeses consumers prefer. “We switched to VBites’ Cheezly because it’s considered one of the best dairy-free alternatives to cheese on the market today,” Domino’s Vice President of Marketing Ido Friedman said. Vegan cheese has become a popular menu addition across pizza chains in the UK, Canada, and several stateside pizzerias—including Coal Fire Pizza, which added a non-dairy cheese option to all eight of its locations last month. Despite customer demands, Domino’s locations in the United States have yet to offer a vegan cheese option.
