RZA, a founding member of iconic music group Wu-Tang Clan, appeared on a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast to speak frankly about his vegan lifestyle. A long time vegan, RZA appeared on the podcast alongside comedian Donnell Rawlings where, along with host Joe Rogan, the trio discussed the reasoning behind adopting a vegan lifestyle, agreeing that health and animal welfare were important factors. “To be honest with you, bro,” RZA said to Rawlings, “I just hit you with this right here, the reality of how I feel: No animal needs to die for me to live, okay?” RZA’s vegan transition began in the mid-1990s after he bit into a chicken wing and realized it was a dead bird. A vocal critic of veganism, Rogan recently welcomed a variety of vegan guests to discuss the topic on his podcast, including Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and cardiologist Joel Kahn, MD—who appeared on the podcast to debate the benefits of eating a plant-based diet with pro-paleo author Chris Kresser.
