Vegan Italian restaurant The King’s Feet is set to open in Berkeley, CA in early 2020. Owned by the brother-and-sister team behind Berkeley’s The Butcher’s Son, Peter Fikaris and Christina Stobing, along with Elliot Harrison and Jeff Davis, the full-service, sit-down restaurant will first open with dinner service before eventually adding brunch. Its dinner menu will feature appetizers such as vegan calamari with mushrooms and banana blossoms; fresh pasta such as linguini with maitake mushroom clams, and puttanesca with vegan fish; along with other entrées, salads, pizzas, and desserts. Everything will be made in-house and is meant to be enjoyed family-style. The partnership involves The Butcher’s Son team developing the concept, menu, and recipes, and Harrison and Davis will run the day-to-day operations. “Our visions seemed to align pretty perfectly,” Harrison told local media outlet Berkeleyside. “The three of us are really coming at this with all we’ve got. I couldn’t be happier with it.” Fikaris said opening an Italian restaurant follow-up to his vegan deli just made sense. “If we were going to open a restaurant, it was going to be Italian. We’re Italian,” Fikaris said. Last year, The Butcher’s Son—which opened in 2016—expanded to a substantially larger space to accommodate its growing base of customers, increase its take-and-bake offerings, and develop new menu options.
