On December 13, vegan chain Veggie Grill will open its first location in New York City in the Flatiron district of Manhattan. The new 2,000-square-foot location will feature a similar menu to its 36 other outposts, including its signature dishes VG Beyond Burger, Santa Fe Crispy Chickin’ sandwich, Rustic Farm Bowl, and the Mediterranean Supergreens Salad, along with a seasonal menu that changes four times per year. “We are thrilled to bring handcrafted 100-percent plant-based food to New Yorkers that share our beliefs around making food matter more,” Veggie Grill CEO Steve Heeley said. “We can’t wait to share our chef-inspired dishes with this great city as we continue our East Coast expansion delivering affordable and delicious plant-based meals to conscious consumers.” To celebrate its NYC location, Veggie Grill will donate all profits from opening day to nonprofit GrowNYC—a community-oriented organization focused on promoting urban gardening and access to fruit and vegetables. In 2016, the vegan chain raised $22 million to fund its expansion outside of the West Coast with the aim of opening a total of 50 locations by the end of 2020.
