By the end of this month, vegan chicken nuggets and burgers will be on the menu at all Wonder World Soft Play children’s amusement centers across Scotland. The new vegan options are made by Scottish startup DARING Foods, which debuted its “Cluck-Free” patties and “Moo-Free” burgers in 35 eateries in Scotland this year with the help of brand ambassador “Kim Kardashi-hen.” “DARING’s range is a huge improvement on the plant-based options that were available to us previously,” Wonder World Group executive chef Aidhan Higgins said. “It’s certainly far better than tofu! When I started my career as a chef, it was pretty much salad or nothing else. Now people can enjoy plant-based products which are just as delicious, if not more, than meat.” In addition to Wonder World Soft Play, DARING Foods recently secured a distribution deal with food service provider Lomond Fine Foods to bring its vegan products to 300 locations in the United Kingdom. “Adopting a plant-based diet is the best thing a young person can do to mitigate the pressures of global food production. Our products use just a fraction of the water and land in production compared to animal meat,” DARING Foods founder Ross Mackay said. “It’s important that children understand that switching to meat-free products can be a tasty and nutritious way to help save the planet. Feedback from parents has always been that meatless eating can be challenging—we provide a way to make it easier.” DARING Foods aims to sell $7 million worth of vegan food and expand its distribution to 1,000 points of sale by the end of the year.
