Starting today, coffee chain Starbucks will add Oatly’s vegan oat milk to the menu at approximately 1,300 locations in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin. Oatly can be ordered as a base for any beverage and will be featured in Starbucks’ new Oatmilk Honey Latte (made vegan by omitting honey and topping). “More and more, customer desire is increasing for non-dairy options and Starbucks is meeting that demand by adding new non-dairy beverages to the menu,” a Starbucks representative told VegNews. At this time, the chain does not have details about whether Oatly will be expanded to locations outside of the Midwest. However, Starbucks is adding two additional non-dairy beverages nationwide: a vegan Coconutmilk Latte (which comes topped with a shake of Cascara sugar) and an Almondmilk Honey Flat White (which can be made vegan by omitting honey). This holiday season, Starbucks debuted the limited-time Irish Cream Cold Brew—made vegan by ordering with plant-based milk—at participating locations in the US and Canada.
