International chain Pizza Hut recently reported that sales of its vegan products nearly doubled during January. In honor of the Veganuary campaign, the chain added a limited-time Vegan Pepperphoni Pizza to all 254 UK locations for the month of January, an option that will now remain on its permanent menu. “At Pizza Hut Restaurants we are dedicated to evolving our practices and processes with the aim of being a more responsible business. Our vegan menu is one of the many initiatives we have in place, including our food donation program and our continued commitment to food waste reduction,” Pizza Hut UK CEO Jens Hofma said. In pursuit of its goal to become a carbon-neutral business by 2030, Pizza Hut UK first introduced the Jack ‘N’ Ch**se Pizza during Veganuary last year and has since expanded its vegan menu to include several Violife cheese-topped pizzas, Quorn-based fried chicken nuggets, cinnamon bites, and caramel-topped cheesecake. “Having easy access to alternative products will be key to help us stay on track, that’s why we’ve already started introducing milk alternatives at our Restaurant Support Center and also have a dedicated company vegan group set up for all our team members to share their experiences and useful hints and tips to eating vegan,” Hofma said.
