Pizza chain Papa John’s is launching a vegan Breakfast Pizza at its United Kingdom locations from May 21 to May 25 in honor of the national spring bank holiday. The limited-edition pizza is a vegan version of a meat-topped pie Papa John’s offered during the holiday last year. The vegan Breakfast Pizza is topped with the contents of a traditional English breakfast, namely Heinz baked beans, sausage, tater tots, Portobello mushrooms, and Sheese (vegan cheese made by Bute Island Foods).

“After such great enthusiasm for the Breakfast Pizza over the last bank holiday, we’re excited to bring it back alongside our version made for vegan customers,” Papa John’s UK Marketing Director Giles Codd said. “So, whether you’re into bacon or beans, this is a must-try this bank holiday weekend, especially if you were unable to get your hands on it last time.”

In 2019, Papa John’s UK added three vegan pizzas featuring Sheese, along with a vegan version of its popular Marmite and Cheese Scrolls and two types of cheesy potato wedges, to the menu of 350 UK locations. For Veganuary this year, the chain expanded its options even further with four new vegan pizzas topped with plant-based meats such as jackfruit pepperoni and sausage. In January, Papa John’s UK hired blogger Claire Every as its first Chief Vegan Officer to help the chain expand its plant-based options.
