Today, vegetarian brand Sweet Earth Foods is launching its newest vegan product, the Awesome Bacon Burger, at HEB stores with nationwide distribution planned in the coming weeks. The first-of-its-kind burger combines Sweet Earth’s Awesome Burger (a vegan beef-like patty made from yellow pea protein) with the brand’s Benevolent Bacon (a seitan-based bacon flavored with hickory smoke, cumin, garlic, and sage).

“We are so excited to announce the release of the Awesome Bacon Burger as the first-ever vegan bacon burger, proving eating plant-based can be just as delicious as it is nutritious,” Sweet Earth Vice President Jessica Vasisht said. “The combination of the Awesome Burger and our award-winning Benevolent Bacon brings together two of our fan-favorite products into one delicious option that is perfect for summer grilling.”

This week, Sweet Earth is also launching two new vegan sausages: Green Chile Chedd’r (made with vegan chedd’r, habanero peppers, yellow peppers, and cilantro) and Chik’n Apple Sausage (which features apples, green onion, and spices) at retailers such as Whole Foods and HEB.

In September 2019, Sweet Earth—which was acquired by Nestlé in 2017 for an undisclosed amount—first launched the Awesome Burger, along with Awesome Grounds, in retailers such as Safeway, Wegmans, Hy-Vee, Shop & Stop, and select Costco locations in September. In October 2019, Nestlé experimented with creating a vegan bacon cheeseburger called the “PB Triple Play,” which is a packaged deal available to foodservice providers that includes an Awesome Burger, along with vegan bacon and cheese created in-house by Nestlé.
