Atlanta-based vegan restaurant Slutty Vegan has announced its purchase of a new property that will serve as its second location in the Jonesboro area outside of Atlanta. Entrepreneur Pinky Cole first launched the business as a food truck in August 2018, selling provocatively named vegan burgers made with a secret sauce. After the truck drew five-hour lines of more than 500 hungry guests waiting to be “sluttified,” Cole opened her first brick-and-mortar location in Atlanta in January—attracting 1,200 customers on opening day. “It is the seasonings that we curate together to really make our food next level,” Cole told local news outlet 11Alive. “Because anybody could just heat a patty, our (Impossible Burger) vegan patty. But the seasonings that we associate with it, we add a Caribbean flair and infuse it with some Southern bites, so you can really taste the flavor.” The government of Jonesboro expressed its support on social media for the upcoming restaurant opening, stating, “You’ve asked for restaurants downtown and we are bringing them to you. Everyone stop what you are doing and welcome them into our community.” This spring, Slutty Vegan—which has gained growing support on social media and through celebrities such as Snoop Dogg, Usher, Lena Waithe, Tyler Perry, and many more—embarked on its multi-city tour across the United States, attracting massive crowds along the way. In addition to the second brick-and-mortar location, Cole aims to expand the brand into the retail sector with the upcoming launch of its Slutty Vegan bacon in stores.
