Starting tomorrow, restaurant chain Del Taco will expand its partnership with vegan brand Beyond Meat by adding two new menu options made with the company’s specially seasoned crumbles. The Epic Beyond Cali Burrito is stuffed with Beyond Meat crumbles, Del Taco’s Crinkle-Cut Fries, sour cream, guacamole, and homemade pico de gallo salsa and is served in a warm, oversized flour tortilla—ordered vegan by omitting the sour cream. The second option, Beyond-8 Layer Burrito, is also made with the plant-based crumbles which are layered with slow-cooked beans, guacamole, fresh diced tomatoes, lettuce, cheddar cheese, zesty red sauce, and sour cream and served in a warm flour tortilla—ordered vegan by omitting the sour cream and cheese. Last year, Del Taco tested the addition of Beyond Meat crumbles—which can be ordered in any meat-based dish and featured in two permanent menu taco options—at select locations in Southern California last year. In March, the chain expanded the plant-based option to all of its more than 580 locations across 14 states—where it has since sold nearly two million items made with Beyond Meat, one of the most successful product launches at Del Taco to date. “The enthusiasm shown by our fans during the first weeks of our Beyond Meat offerings was undeniable,” John Cappasola, President and CEO of Del Taco, said. “To that end, we wanted to reward the passion being shown across social media and in our restaurants by utilizing our uniquely seasoned Beyond Meat recipe in two new protein-packed burritos.” To promote the new Beyond Meat burritos, customers who enter the code “Beyond8” in the Del App can receive a free Beyond 8-Layer Burrito with any purchase valid for seven days starting June 20.
