Food Network debuted a video on Facebook this weekend highlighting the vegan ice cream available at New York-based creamery Van Leeuwen’s. The clip reveals that the recipe behind Van Leeuwen’s array of vegan flavors—such as matcha green tea, salted caramel, chocolate, turmeric, chocolate chip cookie dough, and (honey-free) vegan honeycomb—relies on cashew milk, coconut cream, coconut oil, cocoa butter, and organic sugar. “Why wouldn’t a vegan want to eat ice cream?” a Van Leeuwen’s employee said. “Everybody wants ice cream, so it’s just more options for more people, and we’re here to make people happy.” While the clip—which has already received more than 3 million views—also highlights the company’s dairy flavors, Food Network captioned the video, “This vegan ice cream is really, really good.” Van Leeuwen first launched its vegan ice cream flavors—chocolate and vanilla—to much acclaim in 2013.
