Every year, millions of tourists head to Hong Kong to take in the sights of the stunning Victoria Harbour, visit historic temples, explore bustling markets, and, of course, sample the culinary delights. Hong Kong has an incredible food scene, and, while many of the options you’ll come across are decidedly not vegan (fish balls and roast goose are two firm favorites), there are also plenty of plant-based delights on offer. To help you track them down, below, we’ve rounded up just a few of the best vegan-friendly restaurants in Hong Kong.

Is Hong Kong good for vegans?

According to the Hong Kong Tourism Board, “eating meat-free meals in Hong Kong gets easier every year.” It notes that more plant-based and vegan-friendly restaurants are opening up in the region, giving locals and tourists plenty of delicious, sustainable, animal-free options to choose from.

You’ll find some of our top picks below, but it’s also worth noting that much of the traditional cuisine in Hong Kong is also plant-based. Buddhism is a major religion in the region, and much of its traditional cuisine often avoids meat, dairy, and eggs. Head to temples like the Po Lin Monastery, for example, to find outstanding traditional meat-free meals.

In the past, the brand has partnered with major chains like McDonald’s and Great Eagle to make plant-based food more accessible to Hongkongers and tourists alike.
