Iconic Vegan NY Eatery to Get Facelift

Iconic NYC vegan restaurant chain Blossom will transform its Carmine street location into a new concept called Urban Vegan Kitchen (UVK). The new restaurant will offer a menu comprised of “semi-sophisticated comfort food” including the mushroom and barley-based UVK Quarter Pounder burger (pictured), Chickpea Hushpuppies, and several desserts such as Apple Beignets and Opera Cake. “We’ve developed the perfect recipe, serving upscale city street food à la plant-based in a high-vibration, inclusive environment,” Blossom co-founder Pamela Elizabeth says. “UVK is not just about innovative vegan food; it’s about people experiencing veganism as a fun and positive movement.” UVK will also feature a lower level called Chris’ Cathouse and Soul Lounge—an event space where guests can eat, drink, and listen to music. The Blossom restaurant chain currently has 10 locations in New York City—both casual and upscale—and recently expanded its fast-casual presence with Blossom du Jour Express, a grab-and-go eatery that’s part of the 42 Turnstyle shops at the Columbus Circle subway station. Dynamic vegan dining experiences where vegetables are center stage—such as AvantGarden, Vedge, and Little Pine—are thriving nationwide. UVK will open on October 19 for brunch, lunch, and dinner.
