Harrisburg, PA-based vegetarian restaurant The Vegetable Hunter—a favorite of celebrities such as singer Kendrick Lamar—recently expanded its space to include an upscale, all-vegan menu on the second floor of the restaurant. The new space—dubbed “Upstairs at the Vegetable Hunter”—serves a menu of shareable small plates such as a Vegan Cheese Plate with housemade chèvre, gorgonzola, smoked vegetable, and double cream maple fig cheeses; Cauliflower Steak with golden raisins and walnuts; Lentil Mushroom Etouffee with coconut milk, nori, and jasmine rice; Beet Tartare with sauerkraut cream; and Caramel Pecan Tart with vegan honey and cream. The restaurant also offers artisan cocktails such as Pina Kale-ada, Raspberry Mule, and Our Whiskey Sour with the option to add CBD oil, along with small-batch beer. The Vegetable Hunter expects to debut a full menu in June after its soft opening. “It’s really exciting. It’s something so unique, and really right now is the time a lot of people are switching over or want to have more healthy food in their life,” Kristin Messner-Baker, owner of The Vegetable Hunter, told media outlet Penn Live. Though the first-floor restaurant currently serves a vegetarian menu, Messner-Baker hopes to streamline the offerings and transition to 100-percent vegan later this year.
